Iridium Trichloride is a precursor for several Ir containing catalysts

Iridium Trichloride is a precursor for several Ir containing catalysts. It is used to prepare cyclometalated iridium coumarin complexes, to be used as probes for sensing optical oxygen. It may also be used as a source of Ir during the preparation of Ir–Ni bimetallic nanoparticles
