Ruthenium(III) chloride hydrate is a precursor used for

1) Preparation of nanoparticulate ruthenium-aluminum oxyhydroxide catalyst for the efficient dehydrogenation arylmethyl alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes, and in the synthesis of 2-ethyl-3-methylquinolines from primary aromatic amines and triallylamine.

2) Preparation of ruthenium hydrated oxide, which when deposited on titania nanotubes can be used as a catalyst system for selective oxidation of alcohols by oxygen
